Red Line to Green Line – How Interchanges Work

Transferring between the Red and Green lines at Union or BurJuman is free — you remain inside the paid fare zone and walk between platforms without tapping out and back in. The fare for your full journey (origin to final destination across both lines) is calculated as one continuous journey. If you exit the paid zone at an interchange and re-enter, a second fare is charged — always stay inside the fare gates when transferring.

Journey planning tip: To reach any Green Line station from anywhere on the Red Line, transfer at Union (northern Green Line) or BurJuman (southern Green Line). Union gives access to stations toward Al Qusais and Creek; BurJuman connects toward Al Jadaf and Dubai Healthcare City.

Using Your NOL Card on the Red Line

All Dubai Metro Red Line stations use the same NOL card tap-in/tap-out system — touch your card on the green reader to enter and again on exit. The system calculates the zones crossed and deducts the correct fare automatically. Always tap out — failing to tap out on exit results in the maximum All Zones fare being charged regardless of actual distance travelled.
